YOM HASHOAH V’HAGVURAH 2022 COMMUNITY COMMEMORATION

WEDNESDAY, APRIL 27 // 6:30 PM EDT- EARL BALES PARK- 4169 BATHURST STREET

UJA’s Sarah and Chaim Neuberger Holocaust Education Centre – together with Friends of Simon Wiesenthal Centre, Canadian Society for Yad Vashem, Azrieli Foundation’s Holocaust Survivor Memoirs Program, Facing History and Ourselves, and March of the Living Canada – is honoured to present an in person community-wide Yom HaShoah commemoration.

The program will include remarks from dignitaries, a performance by the Toronto Jewish Chorus, survivor testimony, and a candle-lighting service to memorialize and pay tribute to the victims of the Shoah and to honour the survivors. We are grateful to be returning to an in-person program that will also be live streamed for those watching from home. A return to the memorial at Earl Bales Park will be a very special opportunity for the community to come together after two long years of isolation.

Wear Pink on Wednesday! The International Day of Pink is on Wednesday, April 13th and is a day when communities across Canada and across the world unite to celebrate diversity and raise awareness about the need to stop homophobia, transphobia, discrimination and all forms of bullying. On this annual day in April, individuals wear pink to show respect for diversity and to demonstrate support for learning and working environments which are safe and inclusive of people from all different backgrounds. Wear pink on Wednesday.

School is closed today (March 23, 2022)

23 Mar

Good morning Brownridge families,

You may have already seen or heard the news, but it is officially an Inclement Weather Day for YRDSB. School is CLOSED to students and all transportation is CANCELLED.

Teachers will be posting asynchronous material for students to work through today at their own pace.

We look forward to seeing everyone back at school tomorrow (March 24th)!

Thank you.

Joe Gold

YRDSB email to families from January 16, 2022:

As noted in our earlier communication to families, this year, when an inclement weather day is declared, school transportation will be cancelled and schools will be closed to students. If an inclement weather day is declared, please do not send your child to school. We are unable to guarantee appropriate coverage for students on inclement weather days when school transportation is closed and classes cannot be combined. In previous years, schools have remained open when school transportation is cancelled, however, given the importance of adhering to our health and safety guidelines, schools will be closed to students on inclement weather days.

< p style=”margin-left:0in;”>Announcements will be posted as early as possible and no later than 6:00 a.m. Please check the following for updates:

  • Student Transportation Services website:schoolbuscity.com
  • Student Transportation Hotline: 1-877-330-3001
  • @YRDSB Twitter account
  • Board website (www.yrdsb.ca) and school websites
  • Radio and TV media outlets

Please continue to monitor local media for up to date weather forecasts and take safety precautions advised by local authorities.

Our priority continues to be the safety of our students, staff members and families.
