HEY BROWNRIDGE, WEAR PINK TOMORROW! IT’S PINK SHIRT DAY!

PINK SHIRT DAY IS ON WEDNESDAY. LET’S UNITE TO MAKE SURE EACH STUDENT CAN SAY “I BELONG HERE!”

Here at Brownridge Public School, we promote respect, inclusivity and kindness. This is why we will be uniting to support Pink Shirt Day on Wednesday, February 28. In 2007, Nova Scotia secondary students David Shepherd and Travis Price saw a grade nine student being bullied for wearing a pink shirt. In an effort to stand up for the student, they purchased 50 pink shirts and distributed them to other students, who wore them in solidarity.  Since David and Travis’ act of kindness in 2007, the spirit of their effort has grown each year.  In 2017, people in almost 180 countries shared their support of Pink Shirt Day through social media posts and donations.  (For more information, visit the official website for Pink Shirt Day.)

This Wednesday –February 28, 2018—is Pink Shirt Day.  Please encourage your child to wear a Pink Shirt to school that day.  Let’s promote kindness and stand up to bullying this Wednesday, and every day.

SUMMER INSTITUTE- SOMETHING TO THINK ABOUT…

Summer Institute

Looking for summer learning and fun activities for students entering Senior Kindergarten to Grade 8? Summer Institute offers academic, recreational and athletic programs and activities with intentional links to the Ontario Curriculum.

The program runs for six weeks during July and August. It is offered at 11 school sites around York Region.

Registration opens March 7.  Families can now register online, as well as in person or by mail.

Spring Hot Lunches

Spring hot lunches will be going on sale on School Cash Online Monday February 26.  The order deadline is Friday March 9.  Late orders will not be accepted.

The exact dates for hot lunches is:

Pizza: April 13, 20, 27, May 4, 11, 18, 25, June 1, 18, 15, 22**

** Please note, pizza on April 6 is being offered on School Cash Online as a separate order as this is the week of Passover.**

Pasta: April 16, May 7, June 11

Chicken Fingers: April 9, 30, May 28, June 25

Subs: April 23, May 14, June 18

Bear Wear Update

The Brownridge Spirit clothing has been delivered and handed out.  We have seen many students wearing them to school and they look great!  We hope you are happy with the way they turned out. 

Unfortunately, we have had some garments go missing so we wanted to see if anyone received anything they were not supposed to.  If so, can you please return them to the office as soon as possible? 

If there are any other issues regarding the clothing, please let the office know.

FEBRUARY 7- INCLEMENT WEATHER DAY IN THE YRDSB- Bus and taxi service is cancelled

Good morning everyone, due to continued weather warnings issued by Environment Canada, school bus and taxi transportation in the YRDSB is cancelled. There is no bus or taxi service in the morning or in the afternoon.
