Supports during COVID-19

Reconnecting with Brownridge- WE MISS YOU!

30 Mar

Dear Brownridge families,

On behalf of all our staff here at Brownridge, we miss having our students come to school each day and the many connections we have with families. We know how important social distancing is at this time, and I hope that you and your family are doing well and staying healthy during these challenging days.

During this week, staff from Brownridge will be contacting families to check in on students. We want to ensure that you receive information from our school, as well as the School Board. As we move forward with online learning opportunities, we want to confirm that students can access a digital environment. As our staff will not be calling from our school, you may see calls coming from, “unknown caller ID”, “Private Name” or “Private Number.”  Throughout this week, we ask that you pick up the call as it may be your child’s teacher. We also know that there is an increase in fraudulent calls, please be assured that your child’s teacher will always identify themselves as such and will only ask questions regarding your child’s education. Just as a reminder, please do not to give sensitive personal information (such as social insurance numbers, etc.) over the phone. Your child’s teacher would not ask this type of information during a call.

To ensure that our staff can connect with all our families, we will encourage that calls be kept positive and focused. We know that you will have many questions that are still being worked on at the provincial level.  Once we have further information, we will share updates at www.yrdsb.ca/covid19 , Twitter @YRDSB, and emails.

If you are not already using Twitter as a social media tool, I would highly recommend you do so. Following @brownridgeps and following @yrdsb can help you navigate these unchartered waters. Sign up today to stay up to date. There has also been information posted on Instagram at brownridgepslearningcommons that is definitely worth checking out.

Thank you and please take care of yourselves,

Joe

CAPES FOR KIDS-HELP US REACH OUR GOAL OF $1000

3 Mar

Hello Brownridge Families,

Today all of our students met Polina and Zak who visited Brownridge from Holland Bloorview Kids Rehabilitation Hospital. Students learned about stigma, disabilities and the importance of taking action to include and help others. Ask your child about one thing they remember from today’s assembly.

Our Capes For Kids Fundraiser is on right now and we need your help. We are encouraging our students to recognize that every small act can make a big difference.  We want them to be heroes by helping and making a difference for others. We are asking you to make a donation, no matter how big or small, to support the Capes For Kids Campaign. You can donate online at http://www.capesforkids.ca (find the Brownridge Team name before you donate) or you can send in money with the pledge form.

All students and staff are encoruaged to wear a cape on Friday, March 6th to show what it means to be a hero. Thank you for making a difference and having an impact at Brownridge. #beahero #bekind
