Pink Shirt Day – Wednesday, February 25, 2015
20 FebAt Brownridge we have been supporting the Canadian campaign “Say My Name Canada” by asking our students and staff to “shout out” their acts of kindness. This kindness campaign culminates on Pink Shirt Day, Feb. 25th. The Pink Shirt has become a symbol for the fight against bullying. Please click on the link to see how it began https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gjmf3I1_ZhU.
We are encouraging students to wear something pink on Feb. 25th as we join together to stand up to bullying!
National Sweater Day: Thursday, Feb. 5th, 2015
4 FebAs one of our Eco Club initiatives, our school will be taking part in National Sweater Day on Thursday, February 5th.
National Sweater Day is an annual event organized by World Wildlife Fund Canada. On National Sweater Day, WWF asks Canadians to turn down thermostats by two degrees Celsius to highlight the role that energy conservation plays in preventing climate change. The Eco Club wants everyone to understand how everyday actions can affect our planet’s future.
This Thursday, we are inviting all students to wear or bring a sweater to school. We are looking forward to a cozy day in the classroom!
Kindness Campaign
2 FebAs part of the “Say My Name Canada” world-wide initiative, our students are challenging themselves to a month of kindness. Please go to http://www.saymynamecanada.com for more information (see attached flyer).
We will be tracking the acts of kindness that our students perform for others – in school, at home and in the community.
Our celebration of this kindness campaign will be on Pink Shirt Day, Feb. 25, 2015. We will be encouraging students to wear pink to school that day as we celebrate kindness to others in York Region and around the world.
LET’S ELIMINATE BULLYING BY BEING KIND!
